The lit green initiative: scan products – save trees!

We will save up to 63 pages of paper for each fifth wheel delivered – equating to a total of up to 7,000,000 pages of paper per year. The easy access fifth wheel serial tag will feature a QR code that when scanned, will take users to a digital copy of the literature.

“Recognizing the speed at which the digital world is moving, and how mobile technologies have penetrated our industry, we have made it a goal to not only make it easier for our end user to access information, but to help our planet while we do it,” informed Juan Hernandez, International Marketing & Sourcing Manager – Aftermarket. This new focus on eliminating waste and protecting the environment enables us to save several thousand trees a year.

This new program will make it easier for multiple users to access the service support and operation information at various stages in the life of the product. The end user will never find themselves without quick access to the product support information. A simple scan of the QR code instantly delivers all the detailed information necessary. Not only will this be beneficial to our users, it will also help our planet! For those customers who find it necessary to have a printed copy, this can naturally still be requested from SAF-HOLLAND.

Paper free: PoD Catalog from SAF-HOLLAND

Whether axels and suspension systems, fifth wheel couplings and fittings, kingpins, or landing legs and ball race turntables, our customers find what they need in our comprehensive PoD catalog. The digital version replaces approximately 3,900 printed pages of paper per language. That’s almost 50,000 pages overall. Even the smallest update to our digital catalog can be made quickly and without waste.

With just a few clicks and a short email to their local retailer, it’s possible for service stations, retailers, and service partners to order a spare part completely paper free.

The digital PoD catalog is just one of our answers to our initiative “Going Paper-Free” with which we’ve significantly reduced the number of printed catalogs, brochures, and repair manuals in order to optimize energy usage and save resources.

We pack sustainably

Well-packed and environmentally friendly? Yes, it’s possible! With Goodpack as our partner, not only do our goods arrive safely, we’re also protecting the environment. The reusable containers are cleaned and carefully inspected after every use. Goodpack then delivers the containers directly to us and we use them for our worldwide transport. No matter where in the world we deliver, with its 5,000 locations, Goodpack is nearby. Our containers are simply collected from our selected location and prepared for the next transport. By avoiding disposable packaging, we can protect the environment and decrease our consumption of resources.

Decreasing our carbon footprint with smart transport

On combination transport routes, for example from Italy to Bessenbach, the selected goods are loaded onto a trailer and, per usual, driven to the closest train station. In only a few steps, a crane loads the trailer onto the train and it gets delivered to Germany with no traffic delays. Upon arrival, the trailer is switched to a local train and taken directly to Bessenbach. We receive daily deliveries that have been transported by both truck and train.

Our combination transportation reduced our CO2 emissions by a verifiable 560 tons during 2015 and supports the Austrian and Swiss government in reducing goods being transported over the Alps. Smart transport equals a smaller carbon footprint. It’s good for the environment and good for us.
